Overview
Breathable film is produced by cast film technology and gravure-embossed on a chill roll. It resists a water column from 100 cm H₂O while passing water vapour, so it works as a liquid barrier and a breathable structure at once.
Films can be produced with wide or narrow nano-porous structures on request. The pore structure sets the level of water-vapour transmission, giving controlled vapour transmission and ventilation. They are used in hygiene, medical, agricultural, geotextile, footwear, insulation, roof and house-wrap, technical textile and industrial composite applications.
The most breathable grades go into diapers, the outer layers of disposable underpads, roof and house insulation, geotextiles, furniture, bedding and medical products. While blocking fluid, the films keep a soft, non-plastic, textile-like look.
